Rev. Johnny L. Barber, II Th. M.
Rev. Johnny L. Barber, II is God’s visionary for Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, affectionately known as “The Mount,” located in Miami, Florida. Serving as pastor since 2002, God has consistently blessed this union of church and pastor. The ministry has experience growth numerically, spiritually, as well as financially. Pastor Barber was born in Miami, Florida, to Johnny L. Barber, Sr. and the late Mary R. Taylor. He is the husband to Kimberly I. Richardson-Barber. He has three lovely children, Morgan Fay Barber, Maegan Alice Barber, and Kiersten Savannah Barber. He is a graduate of Miami Central High School. Pastor Barber holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from American InterContinental University, Plantation FL, as well as a Master’s Degree in Theology from Barry University, Miami Shores, FL.
Rev. Barber was nurtured in a religious home thus accepting the Lord and was baptized at a young age. He was raised in the church and received early church training at the New Mt. Calvary M.B. Church. As God continued to develop Reverend Barber, He led him to move his membership to the New Shiloh M.B. Church under the leadership of the Late Reverend Dr. Arthur Jackson, Jr. As a member of New Shiloh, Rev. Barber was a faithful member of the Gospel Choir. He also worked with the new member council, the youth department and several other ministries and committees. Serving under Rev. Jackson’s pastorate, the Lord continued working on Rev. Barber and called him into the preaching ministry in 1996. He later was appointed as Youth Pastor and was ordained in 1998. As Youth Pastor, Rev. Barber was instrumental in the development of several ministries.
Pastor Barber has achieved many triumphs in his life along with awards. He has worked within the Florida East Coast Missionary Baptist Association as Assistant to the Moderator (the late Moderator Rev. Dr. Arthur Jackson, Jr.), Teacher/Tutor Southern Division Ministers and Deacon Union Youth Division, Second Vice President of the Florida East Coast Missionary Baptist Association’s Congress of Christian Education, Corresponding Secretary of the Florida East Coast Missionary Baptist Church, and Coordinator of the Licentiate Workshop for the Southern Division Minister’s and Deacon's Union. Presently, he is the President of the Southern Division Minister's and Deacon's Union of the Florida East Coast Missionary Baptist Association. Rev. Barber, as a brother of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., has served as the Chaplain for the Miami Alumni Chapter. He has also served as the financial secretary for the Baptist Minister’s Council of Miami Dade and Vicinity, along with several other local and state religious and community boards.
