Dr. Venita Timpson

Dr. Venita B. Timpson, a native Miamian considers herself blessed in that she was reared in a Christian home by her mother, Mrs Beatice Ferguson Johnson and late grandmother, Mrs Rosa Lee Ferguson, who instilled in her the values of Christianity and a genuine love for Jesus Christ.

Educated in the public schools of Miami-Dade County, she is a graduate of Miami Jackson High School (1968) and went on to major in political science at Tuskegee University (AL), graduating with a B.S. degree in 1973.

Upon graduation, she returned home and was immediately employed by the public school system and hired as a government instructor at her Alma Mater. There she spent the next 32 years as an educator, ending her career at Miami Jackson as the director of student activites, where she coordinated the school's co- and extra-curricular programs and oversaw the daily operation of 33 clubs and organizations.

Being an educator and understanding the need for continuos education, she recieved her M.E.D. Degree in School Administration from LaVerne University (CA) in 1978, and her D.Min. in Christian Education, with a concentration on Youth Ministry from Smith Chapel Bible University (FL) in 2004. Because of her zeal for education, she holds the educational philosophy that "all children can learn; teach them and they will learn", thus gaining her recognition as Teacher-of-the-Year at Miami Jackson in 1998.

Her commitment to the work and cause of Christ is evident in her personal life; she holds the personal philosophy-"delight thyself in the Lord and He will give thee the desires of thine heart" (Psalm 34:7). She is co-owner/operator, with her twin sister, Veronica, of Timpson Limousine & Charter Bus Service and has served this community since 1978. She is an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., serving as chapter chaplain, and WIN-Women in the NAACP, and is the past chaplain for the juvenile ward of the Miami-Dade County Women's Detention Center.

Sis. Timpson is an ardent and faithful member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church (Rev. Johnny Barber, Pastor) and services on various ministries-Trustee, Sunday School, Mission, and Evangelism. She has served as an instructor for both the Florida East Coast Baptist Association Congress of Christian Education, presently serving as Dean, and the Florida General Baptist State Convention Congress of Christian Education, and now serves as Assistant Dean.

Dr. T., as she affectionately calld, reverently acknowledges God for his many and wonderfull blessings and gives Him all honor, glory, and praise; she sincerely prays that "He will use her until He uses her up, because if He does, the devil won't have a possible chance."
