Mrs. Lawana Y. Parrott
Born in the city of Millen, Georgia, the first of six children born to Willie and Ruby Lane; the mother of one child, Sheldon Dunlap, who resides in Arlington, Texas (a suburb of Dallas).
Dr. Dunlap is a member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church in the city of Fort Lauderdale where she has worshipped for the past 45 years and for the past 27 years under the leadership of Rev. Dr. W.M. Ramsey.
She is a servant leader who is education minded and has always worked to help upbuild God’s kingdom through the various jobs in her home church, our union, our congress, both local and state, as well as our association. She is currently the COPP Coordinator in our district congress and is an active instructor in our local and state congresses and in her home church as she directs Christian Education in the Evergreen Institute of Christian Studies, a school certified through the Sunday School Publishing Board in Nashville, Tennessee.
Currently, she works as church secretary and administrator in her home church. She also leads the Greeter’s Ministry, the Publication Ministry and is always teaching at every opportunity especially in our New Member Orientation classes.
Never wanting idle time, she has always worked to make sure that she is well educated with a bachelor’s degree in Christian Education, master’s degree in Christian Education and doctorate degree in Christian Counseling. She has also completed the 4 phases of COPP and the 4 year study in the Deans & Presidents Seminar offered through the Sunday School Publishing Board Christian Education Department and is a certified dean for the past two years.
